| PRINCIPLE: All responsibilities are mutually shared. It is a common misconception to believe that responsibilities are one-sided. | The Responsibilities of the Church/Pastor: | The Responsibilities of the Individual: | ||||||||
| It is the responsibility of the pastor to teach the Word of God. | It is the responsibility of the individual to seek out a fellowship where the Word is faithfully taught. | ||||||||
| It is the responsibility of the church and its leaders to shepherd their people. | It is the responsibility of the individual to seek out a fellowship he or she will be cared for and shepherded. | ||||||||
| We are commanded in Scripture to stimulate one another. | It is the responsibility of the individual to find a place where he or she can meet with other believers to stimulate one another. | ||||||||
| It is the responsibility of the church to equip the saints for the work of ministry. | It is the responsibility of the individual to seek out a place or means whereby he or she can become trained and equipped for ministry. | ||||||||
| Scripture commands us to encourage one another, lest we become hardened. | It is the responsibility of the individual to seek out a fellowship and a means through which he or she will be comforted, and encouraged in the faith. | ||||||||
| We are commanded to bear one another's burdens. | It is the responsibility of the individual to place himself in contact with other Christians whereby he will both give and receive love and comfort. | ||||||||
| Pastors have a responsibility over the souls of their congregation. One day they will have to give an account. | It is the responsibility of the individual to place himself under a godly ministry, as a committed and stated relationship with a valid church, where he can be effectively monitored as to spiritual state and progress. We are to submit ourselves to faithful men who can guide and admonish us. | ||||||||
