Rosscup, Jim. Commentaries for Biblical Expositors. Sun Valley: Grace Book Shack, 1993.
This is a little-known but tremendously helpful book that gives information about authors, theological orientations, and important views of different commentaries. It is written by a conservative and very godly professor of The Master's Seminary (who holds two earned doctorates). This book can a great deal of time and money when you need to select suitable commentaries. It's as valuable as having the Yellow Pages.
Pink, A.W. Profiting From the Word. Banner of Truth, 1970.
A devotional and conscience-stirring book that points out 10 differnet areas where Christians should be growing in if they are truly profiting from their Bible reading. Pink examines believers' relationships towards:
Sin, God, Christ, Prayer, Good Works, Obedience, The World, The Promises of God, Joy , Love
This little paperback is one of the most profound and moving books I have ever read. It warrants reading once a year.
Morgan, G. Campbell. Living Messages of the Books of the Bible. Baker, 1982.
This book gives wonderful summaries and overviews of all the books of the Bible. It offers profound insights that I have seen nowhere else. For every book it gives "Permanent Values" and "Living Messages" (timeless principles). Great for getting a grasp of the "big picture" of different Bible books.
